AFI – “Ash Speck In A Green Eye”

Are you ready for the start of Spooky Season? AFI sure as Hell are, when they release their new album, Silver Bleeds The Black Sun… this Friday to get all the punks, goths, and reformed hardcore kids in the mood in one sitting. They’re channeling a big time classic post-punk feel on this one, as evidenced by early singles “Behind the Clock” and “Holy Visions”, but at the same time, it’s like they’re reintroducing themselves with a new era to a whole new generation with it since signing on with Run for Cover Records, who’ve honored them with the progressive album rollout they deserve, full of music videos playing at drive-in theaters, listening parties gathering their fans at independent record stories, and digital billboards plastered across Times Square (on that note, check out Davey Havok’s two-part appearance on the Hardlore podcast from last week if you haven’t already.) Until then, there’s one more to indulge your darkness in with “Ash Speck In A Green Eye”, a bleary hypnosis caught looking somewhere between Sister of Mercy and New Order’s prisms, as Davey hisses in the shadows and theatrically vamps in and out of your lucidity. Dream a nightmare through AFI’s eyes below…
