SPACED – “Pressure”

Lately, simulation theories and the possibility that there’s some kind of mind-reading that plays out when putting our thoughts into the universe and them turning into a reality, for better or for worse, don’t sound too crazy. These times pretty much necessitate such paranoia seeing as 2025 has very much been a year where the weight of gravity has felt especially heavy. SPACED’s “Pressure”, the latest preview from the Buffalo progressive hardcore band’s forthcoming EP — and follow-up to their 2024 listmaking debut album, This Is All We Ever GetNo Escape, states a great case that if such theories were true, it might be a healthy mental reinforcement to push the negative forces as much as you can, just in case there is such thing as cosmic karma. “You thought you’d keep it buried / But the truth has a way / Of coming to the surface and today is the day,” omens Lexi Reyngoudt over a swirling grind and groove of melodic density in the riffs. As the vacuum threatens to swallow the whole damned thing, SPACED instead head-charge right into it and push it away. Take that, bad gravity.

SPACED’s No Escape will be released October 17th on Pure Noise Records.
