Everything at this very moment in history feels completely raw at the surface. A brief flash of the timeline can be enough to elicit deep, deep dread by anyone who cares about the future of equality, truth, and common human decency. Now imagine being someone who is queer, trans, or a woman, with their entire existence coming under attack for simply being something that does not fit into the broken ideologies preached by false god hellbent on destroying this world for their own morally-bankrupt gain.
Agriculture’s music seethes off this suffering with the “The Weight” — the latest preview from the ecstatic black metal band’s forthcoming sophomore effort, The Spiritual Sound — and is intent on destroying them. With this listen, they’re internalizing every instance where those “waiting, looking, spitting” in their own direction and do their damnedest to destroy the vacancies they leave within. Where “Bodhidharma” meditated around the act of patience with muted verses that offset its loud release, “The Weight” does not withhold in screaming back at the void in its own full metal jacket of emotional resistance. For you and I, this uneasiness may be a new feeling, but for Agriculture and their community, this is the way through surviving a typical day in the life.
