New album release imminent in just a few days, “Nights In Armor” — the final preview from Water From Your Eyes’ fever pitch anticipated It’s A Beautiful Place — hears Nate Amos and Rachel Brown getting heavy on their final creative flex before it arrives in full this Friday. What began as the cool core of a track Amos originally intended for his This Is Lorelei project becomes something exponentially more so when further tempered and tweaked through he and Brown’s idiosyncratic point-of-view on shape-shifting styles, and the energy that informs it. Between it’s slapped riffs and chugging bassline designed in reverse, these pages would best describe the listen as what the Brooklyn experimental pop outfit’s take on modern hardcore would sound like if that was there intention here — and Brown’s got their best crowd killing face on for their foes. “Fight me / I’m on fire,” they sing in its chorus outro. This one not only goes hard, but righteously burns anyone encountering them in the process.
