The music video for DRAIN’s latest single off their upcoming third full-length effort, …IS YOUR FRIEND, begins with the following introduction:

“11 years ago DRAIN was started by our drummer Tim Flegal. In those 11 years, Tim has never missed a single practice, show or even a tour. He wants nothing more than to be with us now, but he’s at home kicking cancer’s ass. This goes out to Tim Flegal.”

What follows is a beautiful tribute to a consummate hardcore scene workhorse, bandmate, and friend that matches the energy of this crucial moment in his life it intends to meet. While the surface of the Santa Cruz thrashers’ sound is objectively rife with a hunger for violence and aggression, make no mistake about it that in DRAIN terms, this is a love song. “Stealing happiness from tomorrow / I never want to feel alone ever again!,” Sammy Ciaramitaro shrill-screams. Between the breakdowns and brick walls riffs, it’s true that life gets heavy. DRAIN just aren’t about to let any of that weigh them down.
