White Reaper – “Blink”

White Reaper look and sound a little different this time around leading up to their new album, Only Slightly Empty. Though they’ve leaned down to the trio of vocalist and guitarist Tony Esposito, keyboardist Ryan Hater, and guitarist Hunter Thompson, the Kentucky rockers don’t sound any less muscular for it on its latest single, “Blink”. Everyone’s in perfect sync as they crunch and rumble hooks out tighter. They’re so much punchier, too. Maybe these pages are reading too much into the track’s title, but it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to believe there’s a subliminal homage behind it relating to them putting in the on big arena stages in front of blink-182 fans two summers ago since they’re obviously setting their sights on greater pop-rock ambitions intent on catching the eye (and ear) of the masses. “No regrets are the best / Even if they make it worse,” its bridge ends with big anthem energy behind. White Reaper don’t sound at all interested in pumping the brakes from this direction they’re headed in here…
