Spiritual Cramp – “At My Funeral”

Life’s too short to give a fuck about what others think or say. Michael Bingham exhibits the kind of rock star swagger that isn’t afraid to look the part of someone who enjoy keeping his side of the street messy in his showmanship as the frontman of Spiritual Cramp, and with “At My Funeral”, the lead single from the San Francisco-centric punk band’s sophomore effort, RUDE, he’s taking it to the grave in full with his villain’s epilogue. Since releasing their 2023 self-titled debut, the San Francisco-centric punk band has only sharpened their edge, and helping out here is the equally-precise efforts of indie rock producer John Congleton. It’s brash garage-punk bravado that gives two flips to the lack of anyone crying by Bingham’s casketside. “At my funeral / Nobody came / Everybody knew / My shit was lame.” We can only hope to be remembered at our best when that day comes, but even if we don’t, there’s no reason to sweat it when you’re already dead anyway.
