Jobber – “Pillman’s Got A Gun”

The story of Brian Pillman is one of pro-wrestling’s greatest tragedies of the ’90s, and if you’re up to invest yourself into a deep dive about him, there’s a two-part Dark Side of the Ring episode featuring those who knew him that bests pulls the light from the darkness surrounding his gone-too-soon chaotic aura. If you’re looking for a more artistic interpretation of it, then there’s the latest single from Brooklyn rockers Jobber’s debut full-length, Jobber To The Stars. Vocalist and guitarist Kate Meizner sinks herself deep into character here — nearly to the point of getting lost in it — with some heavy thoughts wandering through a whoosh of distortion and grunge-addled power-pop balladry. Set against its candlelit memorial visuals created by Brittany Reeber, you can’t help but see and hear an intersection between the lives of Pillman and Kurt Cobain’s genius madness that both played out loudly during alternative’s attitude era.

Jobber’s Jobber To The Stars will be released August 22nd on Exploding In Sound Records.
