forever ☆ are a tour de force into the outer limits compared everything else happening right now in our current music climate. With “Blade Silver Metallic”, the Kansas City duo of David Chavez and Rachel Stang gave us a countdown and liftoff to their next sonic wave-altering extended play, Second Gen Dream. With its second single “Heat Seeking Missile”, they’re on a mission to scorch the celestial heavens with radiating electricity and aiming to become a flickering part of the sky altogether.
There’s a natural urge to lump what they’re doing under a catch-all shoegaze umbrella — there’s absolutely no shortage here of high voltage amperage surging through dense layers of guitars that feed said-electrical discharge through their spacecraft. Yet, they go several steps further in flirting with untested boundaries, with the vehicle’s dashboard knowingly connected through frayed livewires that practically invite danger into the equation as it surges. At any moment, it feels like this whole thing could go up in flames. Maybe that’s because they’re at full velocity inching closer and closer to the stars themselves.
forever ☆’s Second Gen Dream will be released August 29th on à La Carte Records.
