Winter – “Just Like A Flower”

Give Winter her flowers. For the past decade, the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Boston-by-way-of-Brazil songwriter has been a mainstay in every one of those place’s independent rock scenes (but most especially, that of LA…) and as guitar-driven, bedroom-formed bliss-outs have captured our daydreams in the many forms of ‘gazing ringing throughout speakers and earbuds these last few years especially, Samira Winter has been there throughout it all as one of its more under-heralded forces of nature.

With “Just Like A Flower”, the lead single from her forthcoming album, Adult Romantix, she wants you feel her presence fully all around you, however. It’s seasonably piqued just as well as she conjures fragments of an all-too-perfect-day summertime memory, from listening to Liz Phair on repeat to reading Anaïs Nin unbothered by anything happening around you in that moment — the world viewed as a poem rather than an anxiety-inducing headline. Through her saccharine electrical pop current, a feeling that nothing can ruin this high. “I close my eyes / I don’t feel scared / The infinite is everywhere.” Truly, Winter is in bloom.
