When a group of dreamy, shoegaze-informed indie rockers call a song of theirs “violets & honey”, they’re making it a point right then and there to attempt piquing all of the best senses by the ensuing sound. Florid descriptors have already been on theme for Welcome Strawberry leading up to the release of their sophomore effort, Desperate Flower, set for release in the epicenter of the summer come late July. As you further piece together the album within the context of that frame of time, its sun-sparkle of C86 guitar-pop and sweet succulent melancholia of harmonies allows you to see, hear, taste, and smell a good nature. Flowers radiate toward the sky and insects buzz through the warm, swirling breath of air as everything else fades into a distant background. Just close your eyes and listen — it’s blooming all around you…
Welcome Strawberry’s desperate flower will be released July 25th on Cherub Dream Records / à La Carte Records.
