TURNSTILE – “LOOK OUT FOR ME”

The more songs trickle out, the more it seems like these pages weren’t wrong about first single “NEVER ENOUGH” being the thesis statement TURNSTILE wanted you to pay close attention to for the details, as it doubles as the proper introduction of a common thread of sound binding the Baltimore experimental hardcore band’s new album. That’s become even more visible on “LOOK OUT OR ME”, NEVER ENOUGH‘s fourth single which further stretches out the pit-friendly impulses we heard take flight on “BIRDS” and the ambient segues of the title track. Except now, we’re hearing these two energies bleed into one another, as Brendan Yates’ soaring verses and the subsequent big riff rips get pulled together by wavy, flangered-up vibrations. When the heavy tides dissolve, the listen’s remaining energy particles ripple through the currents of an EBM lite groove (you just knew that there was going to be a sonically reflected reason why Boy Harsher were invited to open up their album release show…) as the whole body begins to take greater form.

TURNSTILE’s NEVER ENOUGH will be released June 6th on Roadrunner Records.
