Remixes can be and should be very fun experiments! But when a remix also introduces your listeners’ audience to a new artist who may be flying under the radar? That’s making the most out of everything. Dummy understand how to pay it forward. After a coupling of promising extended plays and a solid debut full length in 2022’s Mandatory Enjoyment, Los Angeles noise-pop experimentalists Dummy bubbled up to the very top of last year’s best albums list with their sophomore follow-up, Free Energy. While they’ve been touring the hell out of the album ever since across the world, they somehow found the time to assemble a provocative new auditory experience entitled Bubbelibrium DLC, which will reimagine its songs’ previous forms through the vessels of their fellow stylistic outsiders. On its first preview “Unshaped Road”, the band’s fellow Los Angelinos, the experimental art-pop trio GMO, are given full-blown collaborative access to the sound lab, maintaining the listen’s body-lifting properties but through an electrolysis process that further manipulates gravity’s properties with varying currents. For those who desire to be further tripped by Dummy’s music, GMO further relieve any weight holding you back from achieving that.
Dummy’s Bubbelibrium DLC will be self-released June 11th.
