Club Night – “Judah”

Few bands can make laying brick by brick of opposing elements onto one foundation sound like their own natural habitat, but it’s almost as if the more chaotic the material they’re working with is, the more it works in Club Room’s favor in creating something to call their own home sound. From the moment “Judah” shoots off with fireworks in its opening moments, go time on the latest single from the Oakland experimental noise-pop band’s long-awaited sophomore effort, Joy Coming Down, shape-shifts between a melodic hardcore punk intensity and cosmic gazing through post-rock atmospheres that dare to be unafraid of their own unknowns. The four-piece has worn these collisions between the rapturous and the fragile uncanny so well so far that the celebratory affirmation behind these “ancient walls crumbling down” behind them leave you hopeful for whatever new imagined castles they bring into this life.

Club Nights Joy Coming Down will be released May 2nd on Tiny Engines.
