Motioning to everything going on in the world around us right now, you can’t blame anyone for wanting to disassociate from the current dark timeline reality. Maybe it’s even become difficult to look to things you normally have turned to as an escape to get away from it all. Everything in the literal and metaphorical sense is its own doomscroll. So, where do you go? Try turning inward with Monde UFO on “Solitaire”. As the final preview from the Los Angeles experimental band’s imminent new album, Flamingo Tower, the listen — which band leader Ray Monde describes as “movement while withdrawing and aimlessly moving forward following some notion that was very vague” — allows you to let go of heavy matter as it trails the senses into a spiritual tangent of mantra where time is lost and its meditation is a slow cast release of free jazz energy pushing through the discordant air. It’s just you and, hopefully, a clearer head free to roam without distraction.
Monde UFO’s Flamingo Tower will be released March 7th on Fire Records.
