set dressing is a creative limb of Mandy, Indiana. The thing is, we don’t know exactly which limbs of which members of the experimental industrial noise outfit behind one of 2023’s best debut albums are behind the scene setting. There’s an avatar being used for all promotional purposes on top of it, so you can’t even make out the shape of which figures are present here . That’s apt, as the first single from the project is similarly shrouded in musical shadow and omen, inhabiting an instrumental space defined by dark ambient composure. It could easily preclude a cinematic horror narrative, or on its own standing, the strange, other-worldly travels into the subconscious of Pure Moods‘ new age mystique. Whoever is behind its red velvet curtain, they have you transfixed into wandering forth into its unknown…
