Glixen – “all tied up”

Approaching the release of quiet pleasures, it’s becoming clearer with each new offering — even through the swaths of static — that the inundation of lush nü-gaze from Glixen is a sonic specialty which allows them to hold weight exponentially heavier within their softer hands. “‘all tied up’ is about feeling completely consumed by someone,” says frontwoman Aislinn Richie of the latest preview from the buzzy Phoenix quartet’s forthcoming extended play. “We definitely wanted the song to feel enveloping.” That constant tussle for control of mind and body crashes between its waves of densely layered guitars and Richie’s halo-forming vocals. Still, even when constricted by all of that emotional tension, Glixen still manage to gasp air out like a calm exhale.

Glixen’s quiet pleasures will be released February 21st on AWAL / Wichita Recordings.
