Bad Bunny has had a stellar run in pop stardom over the last half decade. Nearly every year since the 2020s started, he’s come baring creative fruit. Following 2022’s phenomenal double LP, Un Verano Sin Ti, a run of stadium tours, Coachella headlining slots, and wrestling guest spots, it became one of those cases of a pop star who got so massively exposed that when he released a victory lap in 2023’s nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana, it was like, “Okay, dude, I need to take a beat after this one.” 2024 thankfully has allowed listeners to take a breather from the Bunny, but 2025 will get right back to it fully recharged when he releases his sixth studio effort, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. While he’s spending this holiday week serving up its latest single “PIToRRO DE COCO” to more of that traditional Puerto Rican flavor, it’s the album’s other single, “EL CLúB”, that is getting that temperature back up to start the New Year on a fresh heat beat. While making music to dance to has always been at the center of the Bad Bunny experience, taking the song title at its most literal is apt descriptor: Benito laments seeing an ex dancing beneath the strobing lights of the club. The music’s trancelike pulse effects sync that history’s past with the present moment. “Y si de mí le está’ hablando / Espero aunque sea ser un buen recuerdo.” What was built over days, months, possibly even years all flash by in a moment.
