Last year, ML Buch quietly shifted senses on all fronts — especially in that of color and sound — with her acclaimed breakout sophomore effort, the double LP, Suntub. It’s one of those albums where the impression left by its transcendental properties seem to have become more known in the time after its release, with these pages being one such case that’s appreciated them more so in moments needed in sonic meditation. The Danish experimental ambient pop composer chooses her moments wisely nonetheless, now reemerging from the shadows of the solstice to remind us that the darkest point in the year is over with even more energy from that same matter by releasing five selections of bonus material from the creation of the effort through her YouTube channel. “Moving light, Change” is a highlight, with emphasis on light. What begins as a vision barren of any transforms into a sky enveloping you within its warm calm. Guitars slide and blinker as particles of synthwaves melt into them, pushing sunlight further and further in front of you. Keep moving along with them, and suddenly you can see that light at the other end.
ML Buch’s Suntub is available now on 15 Love.
