One of the greatest features of FACS’ is their ability to defy physical dimensions with their vacuous, angular sound. It can shape-shift and mystify all reason and logic. That energy seems to have an even stronger hold on the perception of reality with “Desire Path”, the latest preview from the Chicago experimental art rockers newest effort, Wish Defense. Guitars sidewind throughout, and though there are sharpened corners looking to snag the body and hold it still in front of a mirror, the trio make a concentrated effort to dodge them with gravity-defying agility. To get caught would mean to confront our true self’s intention. Are we our real versions, or are we just a likeness performing in someone else’s skin? Ultimately, it’s those inner most hidden desires that keep that secret safe from the rest of the world finding out…
