Are all thoughts lost while in a daze, or is it simply an underrated opportunity for very good old ones to recycle themselves if presented the time and space? Spiral XP co-vocalist and bassist Lena Farr-Morrissey wonders this through the reflected light on “Window Room”, the final offering from the Seattle noise-pop band’s debut album, I Wish I Was a Rat. It’s the first turn we’ve heard so for from Farr-Morrissey in front of the band’s bent waves entirely on her own, and from her perspective, it’s as though everything existential begins to sink a little in a little deeper with her there. “How long until / We revel in something new?,” she ponders. Sitting with these thoughts, it’s as though the window opens pathways to places once forgotten that suddenly feel lived in once again.
