From dust to dust? Not quite so fast! As Pharmakon, Margaret Chardiet has mastered the art of knowing the terrifying, yet scientifically-based stark realities of how the human body works and the grim realities of its inevitable demise. “METHANOL DOLL”, the latest preview from Maggot Mass, doubles as a breakdown on the matter of post-mortem decomposition through its own heavy decay of industrial and noise. We get more context behind the LP’s title here as well, with Chardiet educating us all on how burial without any preservation or entombing methods are the only one true way to recycle what you are as pure earthen nutrition as her sludgy scourge reaches out from six feet beneath the ground. “Unless you own some piece of land, you will never return to the earth again,” she warns. So which would you rather be? Maggot meat that inevitably blooms into a lush, vegetative plant or a gaseous plastic bag stuck in a box?
