Kim Gordon & model home – “razzamatazz”

You know Kim Gordon’s name, but are you yet familiar with that of model home’s? For the uninitiated, the enigmatic D.C. experimental rap duo of Nappy Nappa and p cain’s collaboration with the Sonic Youth founder and creators of this year’s highlight The Collective on the new single “razzamatazz” is one way to mark your arrival beyond the DIY walls that have served them just well to date. They’re certainly formless and singular in their own designs alone to stand out, but Gordon’s star power rub equally inspires both half’s approach to rethinking sound in dark magic ways. The noise they conjure transmits itself through an electronic energy wave. There’s unsettled, scratched-up markings on the surface, and a disruption of voices and bass bulbs from beneath them, making for the perfect hollowed ground for Gordon’s ominous, trailing musings breathed over to raise the dead. You don’t initially see or hear the three coming, until you do, like it’s a supernatural apparition.
