PUREST FORM – “BURN”

“We have a burning fantasy to set fire to a complacent retroactive society. Start new. Start present. See things for what they are and destroy corrupt and evil monoliths of war,” PUREST FORM vocalist Story Beeson says of the Los Angeles trio’s “BURN”. Since igniting the buzz behind their sound earlier this year with their debut EP, the latest single from the Los Angeles experimental synth-metal trio — which collects members of the scene’s hardcore acts like Fury, Object of Affection, Choking on Ash, and Pocketknife — punctuates their mission statement in both their art and politics. The club and the pit make for a welcome space to further explore these destructive inclinations, as Beeson alongside guitarist and programmer Madison Woodward and bassist Riley Joyner thrash through industrial blast beats with a sawing intensity and ample voltage to whelm the system. “Burn whatever’s left!,” Beeson snarls, until ultimately desire becomes command. Like any anthem’s end game, PUREST FORM’s harsher form for the dance floor sweeps you into theirs, except theirs goes one step further in firestarting to the point of inciting revolution.
