Yes, we’re entering the fourth quarter of the music release year and it’s going to get busy with all of those big publicity-fueled heavy-hitters from the indie and pop worlds vying for your attention, but these pages weren’t kidding when they named the DIY art-punk act Feeling Figures a Buzz Sound to watch leading into the release of their sophomore effort, Everything Around You. So far, the effort has showed off the Montreal band’s poppier dazed-dreams and melancholic edges with “Swimming” and “Doors Wide Open”, but its latest preview and album opener, “Co-operator”, mediates the distance between both. This is satisfaction for that urge of an expectation-agnostic cool fix of guitar-pop grit that wears its rough edges well amid its bitter twists of Key Moon and Zak Slax’s harmonizing, aggressive licks to the face, and rocking the fuck on regardless of what tastemakers are saying what’s in.
Feeling Figures’ Everything Around You will be released September 27th on K Records / Perennial.
