Chat Pile – “Masc”

Strange, wild, and free, for better or for worse, depending on which direction the violence goes. That’s already a given apt descriptor of any Chat Pile track. “Masc”, the latest preview from Cool World, sure sinks down into a new level of loathing, even by the Oklahoma City noise-rockers’ low-bar standards, though. They’re the scum and dumb of the Earth both personified and sonically scraped into its chronically regurgitating slab of heavy-handed negging. Vocalist Raygun Busch has already accepted his fate, laying there on the ground, but if you’re willing to risk propping him elsewhere, be ready for that human mess to really spill out loudly. “It’s your world / So cut / Cut me open / Trust and bleed.” Believe him when he screams — it’s hard to change when your stuck dead in your own self-hate.
