Glare’s sound is reminiscent of that of light hitting your eyes at just the right angle. Yet, even in obscuring the view, you somehow see everything all the more clearer. Like their Texan peers in trauma ray, the Rio Grande Valley five-piece of Jes Morales, Christian Resendez, Toni Ordaz, Austin Barrientos and Homero Solis are looking through the ‘gaze in new ways when discerning patterns of emotion on “Mourning Star, their latest single, and first since teaming up with Deathwish Inc. alongside Sunday Drive Records leading into their next album. Where Glare’s heavier waves land on the surface is actually a place beneath the subconscious that speaks to us of those lost, now living in lucid memory. “When my eyes shut / I see you smiling / Once in a while I hear you call out for me / So stay and dream with me.” This is one you won’t want to wake up from.
Glare’s “Mourning Haze” single is available now on Deathwish Inc. / Sunday Drive Records.
