There is no law stating that you can’t name a song after another artist’s massively successful hit, and post-punk provocateurs cumgirl8 are here to take full advantage of it while fucking up the algorithm at its own game with “Karma Police”. The lead single off the band’s forthcoming debut album, the 8th cumming, is high energy right from its first split second, and deliberately an untethered livewire at that since making a splat with last year’s EP (and first since signing with 4AD,) phantasea pharm. In it, the music and media collective officially declares themselves arrived through nerve-exciting zaps to their feminist receptors, entwining proper fashions of electroclash and fun, sleazy camp through the same current. It was said in the ’90s, but they’re saying it again for those in the back with their own scree of a CyberFeminism manifesto: They are the future cunt for a next-gen of thinking listeners.
