collisions – “happenstance”

Leave it to anyone emo to wonder whether or not everything is written in the stars when it comes to our romantic (mis)fortunes. collisions have been doing that since day one, as the Western Mass band have been constant bearers of big, shout-along emo rock torch songs regardless of waves with no apology and no shortage of longtime scene cornerstones to provide the deep looks within, being led by former Amber Fashion frontman and guitarist Adam Buynicki alongside co-vocalist and guitarist Mimi Herrick of Failed to Say, guitarist Ryan Bineault, bassist Bren D’Amours, and Adam’s brother and Amber Fashion ‘mate, Kevin Buynicki, behind the kit. On their latest single, the heart-pounding “happenstance”, hindsight is whelming through sober eyes as Buynicki races past retraced steps and patterns, piecing together where it all fell apart with clarity and a decade under the influence of honest hard looks. “So quick to love / An idea of / Eternal / It spiraled,” the dots connects just before the big realization hits. “Will stars erase / What felt like fate?” Even if you’re not into the woo-woo of everything happening for a reason, collision plot out a convincing reason to suspend belief and lose yourself in their two-and-half-minutes of pure, over-the-top, punk-popped emotions hitting right at the surface.

collisions’ “happenstance” single is available now.
