Enumclaw – “Not Just Yet”

Stay golden, they’ve always said, but when reality hits, we learn that’s never guaranteed no matter our best efforts. “Not Just Yet”, the second single off Enumclaw’s forthcoming sophomore effort, Home in Another Life, deals with some of that heavy, heavy shit head on with frontman Aramis Johnson processing what it’s like seeing your loved ones get old and, in the case of the uncle / father figure to both he and his brother and bandmate, Eli, succumbing to early onset Alzheimer’s. “Where would I be without Uncle Mike / The pants I own, he bought ’em / So how could he forget me when he taught me everything / This cant be true,” he sings. His anguish wrestles with itself through some of the PNW indie rockers’s most aggressive guitar-pop drives to date to match his state of emotions, in itself a fast motion blur as everything in his world changes faster than he’d like. Every stab at denial attempts to pull back the hands of time, but each of those hands on the clock is just far too heavy…
