There’s no mistaking lust for passion here — Balance and Composure are at their best when they’re putting all of themselves out there to behold, and it’s been a welcome return of that with their first album in 8 years, with you in spirit, arriving on the horizon this fall. In this phase of the Doylestown post-hardcore band’s post-reunion energy, everything feels immaculate. Still, there’s a tortured mind beneath the surface, and that rumbles almost cinematically through their melodically grand emotion quake as Jon Simmons’ heavy head erupts through the listen’s slow-seething atmosphere. “I’ve got a fetish for suffering / And then bleeding out for an audience.” As it spills out, B&C are making it easy to believe what’s right there in front of you.
