Militarie Gun – “Thought You Were Waving”

Militarie Gun have spent the better part of the past year doing it faster following the big time success of their listmaking debut album, Life Under the Gun, which has since jumpstarted them from playing DIY venues to becoming hardcore fest favs to one of the few rock standouts on this past year’s Coachella lineup, and now into headlining their own tours all across the globe, currently underway. They also dropped a reworked and remix EP this past winter. They’re going nonstop, and while they don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, maybe the Los Angeles post-hardcore crew led by Ian Shelton is working on it with their new standalone single, “Thought You Were Waving”. Bolstered by a sea-saw riff that lets Shelton’s deep thoughts stew through its battering waves, it’s big on a chorus anthem for the downtrodden between bouts of shouting at the sky. “I thought you were waving / Turns out you were drowning / Just pull me down and save me next time,” he rescinds. If this is death under the Gun, it’s a hell of a way to go.
