First things first: You should know that drinking cactus water directly from cacti on an empty stomach is actually not a great idea. It’s highly acidic, will likely make you vomit, fucks up your kidneys, and will most certainly dehydrate you more than you initially were. That being said, the version of it that’s been purified for consumption on the grocery store shelf is a go, and there’s probably something to be said about its pinkish hue that naturally drew Channel Tres to it as a very horny thirst metaphor that’s got him wanting to lick it up and down right there on the dance floor with the latest single off his debut LP, Head Rush. Reteaming the Compton rap-house artist with former Godmode-era producer Nick Sylvester, the listen is extra sweaty with a funky fuck-me beat and thick basslines that wriggle and glide their way into the club. “Show me how they do it in your town / This the place where all the freaks come down,” its chorus tantalizes. There’s a magic way about it that gets blood moving south fast enough to leave you feeling like the room is spinning in euphoria. Something tells me that every cactus water brand’s stock is about to go up this summer…
Channel Tres’ Head Rush will be released June 14th on RCA Records.
