“Berghain” is a long ways away from the streets of Compton, but through the euphoria behind the world capital of techno and Berlin night club’s doors, Channel Tres has found his true self on its dance floor. This has been eight years in the making. Following numerous hyped up EPs that have been delivering pieces of the rap-house artist and producer’s vision with promise, the lead single from his long awaited proper debut full-length, Head Rush, is fully on. With it, the listen teams Tres up with fellow Los Angeles-based songwriter Barney Bones on the other side of the map for a late night to remember. They gas each other up and bring a pure, unfiltered energy from beneath the flicker of strobing lights and the faces revealed, a lifeblood-pumping electronic pulse, and share that with the open world like a memory reel. “Everyone’s the same,” he proclaims. Even if you’re not planning on booking a flight there any time soon, Channel Tres recreates the scene vividly through the feeling.
