Dehd – “Dog Days”

What makes Dehd’s music peak out in the crowd is how unfussy and fun it all sounds, even on the worst of days. These are punk-indebted pop songs that never overdress for the occasion, fringes full-on, and wear their messiness proudly. “Dog Days”, the latest highlight from the Chicago trio’s imminent new album, Poetry, dons that unkempt look appropriately for a ride through the modern day treachery that is the pursuit of companionship. More specifically, it’s the subsequent screams from our collective heart break while cruising over speed limits into its reckless abandon. Ghosters, the bad boy in a fast car, and glasses half full that you knocked over are the bumps along the road. Everyone’s looking for someone, but no one’s getting out of their own way. It’s almost as if everyone has fallen in love with the same defeat…
