Whereas other artists might corral their energy into something more mainstream-baiting, arguably becoming one of the biggest bands in the metal and ‘core crossover scene at the moment doesn’t seem to have impacting how hard Knocked Loose are willing to go as their audiences sizes grow larger. “Blinding Faith”, the lead single from the Kentucky existential brutalizers’ third studio effort, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, doubles down on the band’s metallic hardcore heavyweight mass while shifting grinding blastbeat gears several times over throughout in a way outdoes whatever energy capacity we thought they had previously reached. That energy stems from a deft rejective reaction to hypocritical religiosity where those who parrot the Good News the most are hardly ever practicing what is preached. Those who’ve taken up their own version of a cross to bear in a world on fire outside of that are left to agonize with the fallout of what the herd distorts: “I will suffer here instead of biting my tongue / Condemned to a life of pain until my time has come.” Now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
