SPACED – “Rat Race”

With each day of our cells dying, it becomes all the more exhausting to get by the daily grind. The expectation to fall in line with capitalism on-demand, meet increasingly unrealistic check points in life, and these ideas of what success looks like is only getting heavier to shoulder. “Rat Race”, the latest preview from SPACED’s upcoming debut album, This Is All We Ever Get, attempts to not only outrun these structures, but tear them down pillar by pillar. The Buffalo progressive hardcore band are fit for the challenge, too, with the listen breaking out in less than two minutes with frontwoman Lexi Reyngoudt leading the charge against preconceived conditioning with a metalcore wrecking crew in tow for the breakdown. “I need some clarity / I need sincerity / Become a rarity,” she shouts. It’s SPACED against everyone else, and from this vantage point, strength in numbers might not be such a bad idea if it’s free will we’re all after…
