Behind the buzz and breakthrough of one the best heavy albums of last year, Agriculture officially entered our sonic panoramic view as a tour de force with a sound they describe as “ecstatic black metal,” or in other words, black metal that transcends the mind and body to a heightened state of being. If that effort’s energy was inspired by the glory of the ocean, then “Living is Easy”, the first preview and title track off the Los Angeles four-piece’s forthcoming EP, is arguably inspired by the glory of giving yourself back to nature, with it lyrically centering around the story of one of Buddha past lives where shared community fulfills the soul. The elation in turn has exponentially grown within Agriculture’s sound, as the listen rips through the atmosphere with a lightning brilliance and riffs more melodious — arguably, a charge of celebration rock for the sacrifice — as bassist and vocalist Leah Levinson’s screams usher in the triumph of selflessness. Living is indeed easy if only you see it less as a “me” experience and more as a “we” experience, with Agriculture cracking wide the potential in all that it can bring to you.
