Hannah Judge has certainly done her homework with getting d the creative formula pat-down. As the leader behind the Ottawa-based bedroom pop outlet, fanclubwallet, “Band Like That” is something of an origin story for her second chapter with it all leading into the new EP, Our Bodies Paint Traffic Lines, as it has evolved into full-band form since solidifying her tour ‘mates and friends in bassist Nathan Reid guitarist Eric Graham (guitar), and drummer Michael Watson as part of the lineup. You’d think the story stops there, but the listen is more than a meta dose of static-sugared indie-pop, hearing her singing from both the position as the performer and artist as well as the stan on the other side of the stage who wants that life. “I tried to dress the part / I guess you can’t fake real art,” her self-doubts sneak in, though there’s enough near-flawless execution here to ensure she makes it.
