Forget everything you thought you knew about Gulfer. Mostly, at least. “Too Slow”, the latest single from the emotive Montreal indie rockers’ newly-announced third studio album, Third Wind, is a thing of contradictions, and not just because the listen is false advertisement in titling by ripping faster through its two-minutes-plus length, but because the Midwestern-informed noodling guitarwork of their past efforts have been pushed away for melodic hardcore aggression in the pen of vocalist and guitarist Joseph Therriault, with dubbed experimentation on the way out the door. “60 seconds sliding in the breeze / I worry ’bout it / Sometimes I find / That it shows.” They’ve got zero time for fuck ups despite what their own outside observations might say.
Directed by: Vincent Ford and Jordano Aguzzi
Gulfer’s Third Wind will be released February 28th on Topshelf Records.
