For those just being introduced to True Green ahead of his debut album, My Lost Decade, the musical persona of Minneapolis-based songwriter and novelist Dan Horns, an introduction to his craft through the character of “Midtown Matt” paints the picture accurately of the world around. Descriptive in a dirtbag sense, the track’s dim-lit glow from bedroom walls coupled by hotboxed production and harmonies with Texan songwriter Megan Storie sketch out a bent-shape figure right in front of you. “But he looks okay in the Corr’s Light light,” Horns sings. That’s the only hue you need to know to color in the rest of the picture.
True Green’s My Lost Decade will be released February 1st on Spacecase Records.
