When the opening lines of a song holler out, “We ran through the streets like a pack of wolves with / Nothing left to fear!,” you know you’re about to get your teeth sonically kicked in in a matter of moments. The Chisel deliver that with a lofty steel-toed boot to the face with “Those Days”, the latest preview from the London punks’ forthcoming sophomore effort, What A Fucking Nightmare, in a listen that is simultaneously extra gruff and rowdy as it is celebratory, as vocalist Cal Graham calls back to echoes from old ghosts in bar room communion where pints and knuckles equally spilled over. “Even though your voice is gone, it still echoes through the halls of the empty streets / A reminder of bloodstained battle calls.” Born of friendship, bonded by violence.
The Chisel’s What A Fucking Nightmare will be released February 9th on Pure Noise Records.
