Steady with a slackerdaisical slant, the indie rock songcraft of Madeline Link and her band PACKS is brightening its corners leading up to this week’s release of their third full-length effort, Melt the Honey. “Missy”, its final preview, hears Link and company joined by tormentatropica’s Lupita Rico who enriches the listen’s florid lo-fi guitars with a spoken word verse in her Spanish tongue, and there’s very much a regional influence in its vibe, being the album was recorded during the Toronto band’s time split between Mexico City and Xalapa. More so, Link channels the perspective of a cat that made its home around their practice space through her song, and life just sounds more interesting when it’s seen through its eyes.
