“Spinning”, the latest single from Julia Holter’s just-announced new album, Something in the Room She Moves, is nothing short of the fluidity of motion and senses being captured in sound from the Los Angeles-based experimental songwriter. Holter has become master of this artform, tangent of new age but in an art-pop sense that envelopes the sensation of being in the moment of creating and interpreting the endorphin rush that comes with it through a mixology of percussive breaks and synthesizers sweeping in and out like wind instruments, mimicking the dissolving threshold between what we feel and what we see. “What is delicious? / And what is omniscient? / And what is the circular magic I’m visiting?,” she wonders a and eventually, knowing that everything within and outside her has the power to be manifested.
