Ducks Ltd. – “Train Full of Gasoline”

Momentum is on the side of Ducks Ltd. on “Train Full of Gasoline”. That’s great, but if the Toronto duo are going to go off the rails in order to make a point with it on their latest blurring bout of jangled indie-pop from their forthcoming third studio effort, Harm’s Way, they may as well make the inevitable crash spangle. Tom McGreevy and Evan Lewis contend with inertia here in veering straight into the pitfalls of repeating tired habits that serve you no well, easing their job of stepping to the pedal. Again joined by Ratboys’ Julia Steiner and Moontype’s Margaret McCarthy on backing vocals as well as Ratboys / Pet Symmetry drummer Marcus Nuccio, McGreevy’s think tank overflows as pace races. There’s no one but himself to pump the brakes, yet he should have seen this catastrophe coming a hundred miles away in the rear view.
