In 2023, the end was nigh for new music being released through PC Music, the influential experimental label that arguably changed the shape of art-pop since its inception a decade ago. This doesn’t mean the end of its creators'[ work, however, as founder A.G. Cook has begun 2024 by ushering in his own next chapter with the single “Silver Thread Golden Needle”. A ten-minute-long excursion with no points of an energy drop, the listen begins as a flotational orb and sooner, skitters into directions unpredictable that venture through Cook’s contributions of fully glitched out hyper-pop as well as kinetic ambient wavelengths. It’s an excitable fresh start from the prolific soundshaper that suggests the universal collection of electronic, pop, and dance music in his hands are entering their next state of flux in an unmatched, futuristic evolution.
