+Artist Favorites 2023: Full Blown Meltdown

If there were an award for Modern Day DIY Scene MVP that deserved to go to anyone in 2023, then it would have to be Full Blown Meltdown, the one-person punk moniker of songwriter Will Green. Green has loudly used his platform over the past year to champion the unsung artists of the underground punk, emo, hardcore, and indie rock scenes of the present as well as the past, and in his own merits, he’s stayed true to the ethos is self-releasing his debut album, Mollify. It’s a Hell of a good, unhinged time that parses together many lives lived since his days as a metalcore guitarist as well as the future of punk-pop and fifth (sixth?) wave emo as he laments industry bullshit and the everyday doldrums of trying to survive out there in this chaotic world.

Energy matches energy and game recognizes game looking at Full Blown Meltdown’s favorite music of the past year as well. It’s got everything from the scene’s modern day rumblers from the basement, scene vets who are now filling stadiums, a nod to his metalcore roots, experimental hyper-pop and chip-tune rockers, and up top, the living DIY punk legend himself.
