Wishy – “Spinning”

It’s certainly a move for a new artist to release their first ever release in the thick of list season, yet Wishy must have had some confidence behind what they’re setting forth, now going 3-0 with advance singles leading up to release of their debut EP, Paradise, later this month. As has been the case with its earliest previews in the swervedriving fantastical of “Donut” and the fizzled power-pop melancholia of “Too True”, each one offers a glimpse into a different sides of the Indiana band’s shoegaze-indebted indie rock. “Spinning” is another one led by co-vocalist Nina Pitchkites and hears the band doing just: sweeping emotions of in-the-moment ecstasy into lush, Sundays service dream-pop with a modern synth glint that makes you feel like you’re feet are touching nothing but clouds. “Spinning around the kitchen floor / I don’t know what I’m dancing for,” she sings. Feeling yourself never did need a reason…
