The Chisel – “Fuck ‘Em”

The Chisel make everything about ugly, crass hardcore punk sound like you are right in the midst of a glorious pummeling of knuckles and flying fists at a pub brawl. Maybe it’s the British accent thing and their spirited honor for Oi punk that latches onto the skin with more bite, but in the two minutes that “Fuck ‘Em”, the fast, foul-mouthed lead single from the London band’s forthcoming sophomore effort, What A Fucking Nightmare, vocalist Cal Graham need not explain his stance on the chorus’ pissed off position, though he does lament plenty toward the “gobshites and over-opinionated knobheads” which his spit aims toward in the verses before it. Chubby Charles’ speedball guitar only invites more commotion, and Fucked Up drummer and resident UK punk expert, Jonah Falco, who was behind the boards of the LP, gussies up the listen without tidying up too much of the fractious. Let ’em fight.

The Chisel’s What A Fucking Nightmare will be released February 9th on Pure Noise Records.
