“Donut” introduced us to the exhilarating shoegaze-pop whirlwind side of Wishy, the new band spearheaded by former Hoops bassist Kevin Krauter (now on guitar) and guitarist Nina Pitchkites. On “Too True”, the subsequent preview from the Indiana-based band’s forthcoming debut EP, Paradise, we hear a different side from its vocalists’ sonic duality with it resounding more so familiar to Krauter’s previous leaning intos of melancholic, static-smudged power-pop befitting of the listen’s never-meet-your-heroes realizations of growing up and growing apart from the people you idolized. “Too true / I wanted to be like you,” he sings with a sorta-sigh, but also, a new found wisdom that he’s on his own path of wellness just fine moving on from the past.
